C39 39 C CCBot/1.0 (+http://www.commoncrawl.org/bot.html)Sea Containers operates the popular Belfast-Troon route on the Irish Sea where it pioneered fast crossings in 1992 - halving previous journey times. The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company is now owned by the private equity firm Montagu Private Equity Ltd and is no longer a subsidiary company of Sea Containers Ltd.
The Isle of Man Steam Packet provides freight, passenger and vehicle services between the port of Douglas and four ports in the United Kingdom and Ireland. The aim is to provide consistent services with convenient and fast crossing times and to offer a wide range of promotional fares to the travelling public. Fastcraft and conventional vessels make up a modern fleet providing high levels of on-board service.
The routes which the Steam Packet Company operates are:
Isle of Man to Heysham: year-round service
Isle of Man to Liverpool: year-round service
Isle of Man to Belfast: seasonal service only
Isle of Man to Dublin: seasonal service only
Dublin to Liverpool: seasonal service from February to early November
In addition to the above, the Company operates a small number of special day excursions to other destinations during the summer months.
A year-round service for passengers, vehicles (including coaches) and freight operates between Heysham and the Isle of Man. Twice daily services are operated by the Ben-my-Chree. Additional fastcraft operate a 3 hours 30 minutes crossing at peak times during the summer months.
A year round service for passengers and vehicles operates between Liverpool and the Isle of Man. Fastcraft vessels provide twice daily sailings from April to the end of October with a crossing time of 2 hours 30 minutes. In Winter a service is operated at weekends with conventional vessels replacing the fastcraft.
Services for passengers and vehicles to Dublin and Belfast are operated by fastcraft up to four times weekly between Easter and the end of September, with a crossing time to both ports of 2 hours 50 minutes.
